La Roux Rox my Sox!
Yesterday I just learned about the south london synth-pop duo “La Roux” and I have to say I haven’t been this excited from listening to a new artist sine the first time I listened to The Rocket Summer or The Gay Blades.
This south london synth-pop duo is comparable to a time warp directly to the coolest part of the 80’s. Their debut self-titled record gives off a eerie nightlife feel all while keeping this empowering edge to it. The second track “Tigerlily” ends with a timely and relevant “Thriller”-esque soliloquy while the single “In For The Kill” screams “Pole Position, which the band states as one of their biggest influences. And even though this record is heavily influenced by the 1980’s it never once feels dated.
Now I just hope this band picks up more steam the US. Check out their current single “Bulletproof” free on itunes this week.
